Platone river from Viduskroģeru HPP to Jelgava

Categories: ,

Description

Platone river is the left tributary of Lielupe River and its length is 69 km (44 km in Latvia, 25 km in Lithuania). The Platone river starts near the village of Bilži, about 11 km west of Joniškės. It flows through the territory of Latvia and Lithuania into the Zemgale plain.
While the Platone River is practically a grassland in summer, in spring there is plenty of water and currents.

The trip will start in Platone at Viduskroģeru HPP and will lead along the twisty Platone to its outflow into the Lielupe River and then a short distance along the Lielupe and Driksa rivers to the tea house on Pasta sala (Post island) in Jelgava!

Trip length: 16km
Trip duration: 4 hours

The route is easy, navigable only in spring at high water level. The route can be adapted to your preferences.
