Description
The lower part of Gauja, although calmer than the upper part, is by no means boring, there are fewer paddlers and it is possible to enjoy the river and the views along its shores. The small Dzirnupe River leads to Dzirnezers, a tributary lake with 5 islands, the largest of which are Vadoņa, or Kārlis Ulmanis Island, Krievu sala and Sudrabsaliņa. But the Gauja estuary greets you with its white beach sands and its natural interaction between the sea and the river.
The journey takes place from Ādaži to Dzirnezers, where a rest break is planned. Then we will be rowing to the mouth of the Gauja River and back to the finish in Carnikava.
