Bērze
The Bērze river is a left tributary of the Svēte river in the Dobele and Jelgava districts. It begins in the Lielauce hills. In its upper reaches it curves along hilly terrain, its shores are steep and overgrown. It has a rocky bed, uncharacteristic for Zemgale, interspersed with white sand. The river has three gates – in Dobele, downstream of Dobele and in Annenieki.
Once a popular river for water tourism, the construction of hydroelectric power plants has changed that.
The river is navigable in spring or at higher water levels, and some stretches are navigable in summer.
The total length of the river is 119km.
