Description
Discover the Lielā Jugla from Zaķumuiža to Upesciems!
The Lielā Jugla River starts in Sigulda municipality, on the Mālpils side, and flows through Ropažai municipality, meeting the Mazā Jugla to form the Jugla River.
From Zaķumuiža, the Lielā Jugla leads paddlers through winding curves and the shores alternate between the residential buildings of the Pierīga region and overgrown forest. The journey is truly exciting and interesting!
The water in the river is relatively clear and you can see aquatic plants, fish, fallen trees forming interesting structures on the edges, and the break point is on a high dune with a great view of the surroundings.
In the first part of the journey, there are several fallen trees – they can be overcome along the shore or by pulling the boat across the water (the way of overcoming changes depending on the water level in the river). On the second half of the trip, after a break, the river remains wider and there are no tree falls.
