Gauja river gorge boat trip: from Cēsis to Līgatne!
We invite you to embark on one of the most beautiful and popular canoeing routes in Latvia – from Cēsis to Līgatne, through the picturesque Gauja river gorge and the Gauja National park.
Why choose this route?
✔️ The most popular section – this scenic route is suitable for both experienced paddlers and beginners.
✔️ A rich variety of sights – Briedīši, Vecupe, Edernieki, Leimaņi, and Spriņģi cliffs, as well as the impressive Ķūķi cliff.
✔️ An adventure with rapids – experienced paddlers can navigate them by boat, while others can safely bypass them along the shore.
The route’s length is easily manageable within a day, but the experience stays with you much longer – the beauty of nature, cliffs, water, and forests create an exciting journey through the natural treasures of Latvia.
🏁 Finish – Līgatne ferry crossing, where after the trip you can continue exploring the Līgatne nature trails and end the day with a walk in nature.

Trip duration: 3,5-4,5h
Difficulty level: the route is easy, with a gentle current and a few rapids (depending on your experience – either paddle through or bypass them along the shore).
Good to know!
– After registration you will receive a confirmation email, but no later than the day before the trip
(by 12:00), you will receive detailed trip information. (Don’t forget to check your spam folder!)
– One rest stop is planned at a designated rest area.
– The trip may be canceled due to bad weather conditions or if fewer than 5 boats have registered.
– An escort boat accompanies the trip
– The price includes transportation for drivers (1 driver/person per boat).
Registration is recommended at least 48 hours before the trip. Why? So we can plan the total number of boats and the required equipment. If you want to register at the last minute, it’s best to contact us!
IF I HAVE REGISTERED, BUT CANNOT ATTEND?
If, due to various circumstances, you cannot make it to the trip:
– you can swap it for another trip on one of the available dates if you notify us at least 48 hours before the trip;
– if less than 48 hours remain before the trip or if you do not show up, the option to reschedule to another date is lost!
